The Director of Education Initiatives at the Ball Foundation, Dr. Hill leads a team of consultants in partnerships with five urban school districts located in Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and California. Ball partner schools and districts consistently have attained student achievement gains that exceed state and national benchmarks.

Dr. Hill previously was a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent for 34 years. As Superintendent of the Springfield (IL) Public Schools from 1991-2002 he led the transition to standards-based instruction, award-winning models of shared leadership, and school choice. He was honored with the Illinois Distinguished Educator Award of Excellence and the Breaking the Mold Award. Dr. Hill served two terms as the President of the Large Unit District Association of Illinois.
