Implementing the
components of our Framework for Achieving Powerful Results, and with
the support of Leadership Training and Executive Coaching by proven
successful leaders, numerous schools and school systems have shown
dramatic improvement in student learning. Following are a few
examples:
- Boston Public Schools – where this
model was developed - has shown consistent improvement on almost all
measures over the past 10 years. Boston Public Schools won this
year’s Broad Prize for consistently and systematically increasing
student achievement results and narrowing the achievement gap.
- Chula Vista Elementary School
District in Southern California – the largest
elementary district in the nation – has dramatically surpassed AYP
targets for
five straight years.
- Edmonton Public Schools, in
Alberta, Canada, has improved their high school completion rate by
more than 14%.
- Elizabeth Public Schools, in New
Jersey, has shown 18% - 20% growth in the number of Special
Education and Limited English Proficient students meeting and/or
exceeding standardized assessment targets.
- Gilroy Unified School District, in
the Bay Area of Central California, increased the proficiency of
their LEP students by 21% in only one year, and continues to show
dramatic improvement in multiple areas of student performance.
- New Bedford Public Schools in
Massachusetts engaged four schools in work with this model for a
three-year period. The average gain for those schools was a 30%
increase in the number of students scoring at proficient or above on
the state test (MCAS).
- Springfield Public Schools, the
capital city of Illinois, has shown an increase by their African
American and their low income students that triples the rate of
improvement for other students at schools not involved in this
model.
- Temple
University Partnership Schools - Provided monthly instructional
leadership team and coaching training for teams in six schools of
the Philadelphia Public School System managed by Temple University.
Additionally, provided executive coaching, strategic planning and
facilitation to the Temple University Partnership School Staff.
